Over the past few weeks, we’ve spoken to lots of wonderful Nunhead Knocks volunteers and many of you have said that you would like to be buddied up with another volunteer from the organisation.
From your feedback, having a buddy could:
We think the buddy system should be an informal relationship, the nature of which can be decided by each pair. However, new Nunhead Knocks volunteers may need a little more support with getting to understand our systems as well as being introduced to people, so we’d like to match them with experienced volunteers where possible.
Buddies will be introduced on Slack, Whatsapp or via email depending on what method of communication they prefer. Once they’ve been introduced, we’d recommend that buddies organise a time for a video call so that they can get to know each other and share their experiences of volunteering for Nunhead Knocks. From then on, the buddies can decide between them how often they’d like to check in and whether there are any particular ways they might be able to support each other. The buddy arrangement will last for as long as both buddies are still volunteering for Nunhead Knocks or until one or both people decide to end the buddy-ship.
We’ve got some more work to do setting up the processes but, right now, we just want to check how many people are interested. So, if you are an existing Nunhead Knocks volunteer and are interested in being a buddy or would like to find out more, please email email@example.com and we’ll get back to you soon.
Thanks so much as always for all your help!
